Eight Fresh Emoji Characters Coming to iPhones with Latest iOS Update
iPhone users can anticipate the arrival of eight exciting new emoji characters in the upcoming weeks, with Apple’s latest beta release showcasing these digital additions. The company distributed the fourth beta version of iOS 26.4 to developers this Monday, introducing these fresh emoji options to testing devices.
Among the standout additions is an orca whale emoji, which has garnered particular attention from users. The complete roster of new emoji includes:
- Orca whale
- Landslide
- Trombone
- Fight cloud
- Distorted face
- Ballet dancers
- Treasure chest
- Hairy creature (representing Sasquatch)
These emoji characters received official approval from the Unicode Consortium in September as components of Unicode 17.0. The organization, which oversees emoji development and standardization, emphasized the significance of these new additions.
According to the Unicode Consortium’s statement from July 2025, these newly approved emoji possess enduring symbolic significance, offer visual distinctiveness, and provide extensive expressive capabilities for users.
Currently available exclusively to developers through the beta testing program, these emoji are expected to reach general iPhone users within the coming weeks when Apple launches the public version of the update. This follows Apple’s previous pattern of emoji releases, such as when the company introduced the tired face with bags under eyes emoji alongside other characters through iOS 18.4 on March 31, 2025.
While Apple has not announced an official release date for iOS 26.4’s public version, industry observers anticipate the update will likely become available to all users during late March or early April, maintaining the company’s typical release schedule for such updates.
